Deserving winners claim Carebase’s Heart of Gold Awards
Carebase presented 11 worthy employees with the company’s prestigious Heart of Gold Awards this week.
The Heart of Gold Awards, which were launched by Carebase in 2009, are nominated by residents, relatives, co-workers, suppliers and social workers and seek to thank employees for their continued care and compassion. There is also a special Chairman’s Award, which is given to the employee who has gone above and beyond the call of duty and it is the top award to aspire to. All of last year’s winners were great ambassadors who have inspired colleagues to promote the highest levels of care and dedication to their residents and the homes.

The winners received an engraved glass plaque presented to them at their care home, along with an Armani watch presented to the men and a Tiffany ‘Heart of Gold’ necklace for the women.
Carebase is acutely aware of the incredible work all of its staff undertake on a daily basis and the Heart of Gold Awards provide a lovely way of thanking them. Caring for residents who are living through the later stages of dementia requires compassion, dedication and selflessness; something that all Carebase employees pride themselves on and the qualities that make Carebase such a special place for the residents to live and the staff to work.
The homes are staffed by people who have received excellent training and ongoing support, but that also simply love the jobs they do and give everything to them. The awards were presented to carers, nurses, a chef, a maintenance worker and a Head of Residential Unit, proving that it is not only the carers that make the lives of the residents more enjoyable and comfortable, but all the staff who contribute to the smooth running of the care home.
Many wonderful nominations were received for the winners and there were some beautiful words of gratitude and recognition for all their hard work and commitment.
