A welcoming home-from-home in a wonderful location
When you cross the threshold, the first thing you will notice is the wonderful homely feel Brooklands elderly care home, in Drayton, Norfolk, encapsulates.
Offering outstanding residential, nursing and dementia care, Brooklands houses happy and content residents. The family feel is threaded through the three floors where residents and staff get along famously.
Brooklands features stunning grounds - a mix of lawn, raised flowerbeds and allotments - which is also home to well loved chickens. It also overlooks fields where horses are reared. This provides a wonderful view from the dining rooms – bringing back happy memories for many a resident.
There are spacious elegant lounges and dining rooms on each floor, which serve an assortment of delicious and freshly prepared meals. Their speciality however, which proves incredibly popular with the residents, is the traditional best of British food.
There’s certainly never a dull moment at Brooklands, as it offers a fantastic programme of weekly planned activities and events. A designated activities co-ordinator is always on the lookout for inspiring ideas to put a smile on residents’ faces. From pottery and flower arranging to line dancing and 1950s parties, there’s something for everyone.
Staff at Brooklands were kind and caring in dealing with mum’s needs, which made the transition so much easier. Despite problems with dementia, mum built relationships with staff who encouraged her love of song and poetry. We relaxed because we knew mum was okay. Lindsey Wright, resident's daughter
Life at Brooklands
Carebase ensures that all of its homes are equipped to a very high standard and Brooklands elderly care home is currently enjoying an on-going refurbishment programme.
The home is housed in a tastefully decorated 18th century farmhouse with an incredibly warm and welcoming atmosphere, which instantly makes everyone feel at home.
There are a variety of spaces for the residents to socialise in, like the bar, lounge and dining areas. A hairdressing salon offers pampering treatments, while the beautiful grounds are perfect for daily strolls and gardening. The home has forged close links with the local community and a variety of local businesses from therapists to fitness instructors visit the home on a regular basis.

The Brooklands team likes to make a difference to the lives of everyone at the residential care home. This could be the individual and person-centred care our staff provides right through to encouraging residents to enjoy the many activities on offer.
My role is to handle just about anything and everything the day brings. Being a registered nurse and undergoing recent dementia training is vital to this. The best thing about what I do is making a difference, whether it’s for the residents, their families or our staff. Julie Chapman, Home Manager
Cathy Charley, Home Manager
Yvonne Cullum, Care Services Manager, Brooklands

We love to hear from family members and friends about their experiences of life at Brooklands. How they feel about our home, the care we give and the team that make that possible.
Knowing the ways in which we have made a difference and touched the lives of those in our care – and their loved ones – is what keeps us focused on delivering the highest standard of care at all times.
To the manager and staff at Brooklands Care Home
I would like to pass on my grateful thanks to all your care staff for looking after my sister-in-law Jean Williams with such kindness, care and unlimited patience.
It has been a difficult time for Jean and the family, though it has been made easier for us by your excellent staff; knowing that she has 24 hour care and attention has taken a great weight off our shoulders, for which we have been very grateful.
Thank you is such a small expression, but it is said with much feeling!

I am writing to thank you for your help on the occasion of my Aunt's 100th Birthday Celebrations last Friday, 11th October.
The room you provided could not have been better and the food that the kitchen staff prepared was excellent. Please convey my thanks my to them for what I am sure was hard work, it was much appreciated.
I am sure Aunty Peggy enjoyed the occasion (she certainly enjoyed the sherry!) and once again, many thanks to you and everyone else who helped to make this a special day.

The care and attention shown to my father throughout his two-year stay was truly remarkable and humbling. From the attention he required along with the kind and cheerful words at all times.
